ActiveQ - Dynamic workflow and task management

Product Overview

ActiveQ is a highly configurable, powerful workflow engine designed to automate the delivery of information to the appropriate facility personnel within various work processes. With ActiveQ, facility defined business logic is used to route information and display work queue items, for which individual users are then responsible managing based on established workflow processes. Distribution rules can be based on virtually any criteria (i.e. alpha split, balance, patient type, etc.), and ActiveQ also electronically enables exception reports and provides a mechanism for triggering follow-up activities based on specific events.

ActiveQ is able to incorporate work flow items from multiple discrete data sources: data elements that are present in the different information systems received by ActiveWARE (registration systems, clinical systems); data elements that exist in the ActiveWARE database (scanned or imported); and data elements that are imported into ActiveQ from other programs (reports, data files, etc.). With ActiveQ, items can be completed, pended for later completion, forwarded to another user for completion or distributed for completion by multiple other users.

Features

Medicare 72-Hour Window

At registration, ActiveQ can detect that a patient has Medicare and is returning within 72-hours, resulting in a management note posted on the account and a work object routed to PFS for special handling.

Accident Victims

Utilizing the history of all admission, discharge and transfer detail, ActiveQ also can flag any patient whose previous visit was through the ER as an accident victim. This can notify the appropriate individual and route a work object to them to review or result in a management note posted on the account and a work object routed to PFS to determine liability for health insurance.

Implant Invoices

Capturing images of implant invoices by CDM code and making these images accessible to the billers befoer a bill is submitted improves the likelihood of payment on first submission for any claim that involves an implant.

Discharge Not Final Bill (“DNFB”)

A DNFB report is generated by most HIS systems to indicate patients that have been discharged but not billed. Unfortunately, the HIM department often cannot complete the coding in order to bill the account because they do not have a physician order or other required information. Requiring coders to access records only to find they are incomplete is a waste of a scarce and costly resource. With ActiveQ, incomplete medical records can be flagged for completion by clerks instead of highly-trained and costly coders.

Demographic Verification (Requires UltimateID)

ActiveQ is able to integrate real-time verification of address, phone number and social security number into the registration workflow before the registration is committed to your HIS system, significantly reducing return mail processing. In addition, MPI integrity is greatly enhanced, improving patient safety and avoiding extensive costs associated with MPI cleanup projects.

Charity Care (Requires UltimateID)

ActiveQ can integrate real-time credit scoring using a soft hit on a person’s credit history. The results are automatically analyzed to determine a person’s ability to pay. Utilizing the business rules engine, a patient is then instantly identified for potential charitable care. Any application documents are produced instantly using our electronic forms library with all patient demographics pre-populated on the form. For those facilities that use a third party Medicaid eligibility firm, ActiveQ also is able to route a notification to them with the relevant documents so they can start the eligibility process.
