The Problem
A major health system in Canada wanted to implement interactive electronic forms as an integral part of a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system scheduled for deployment the following year.
Clinicians required the ability to:
- Complete complex, specialty-specific forms digitally
- Add notes and annotations directly onto the forms
- Electronically sign off on each completed form
- Automatically store the finalized document within the patient’s EMR record
However, the selected EMR vendor did not natively support this level of form interactivity or annotation functionality. To ensure the EMR could meet their clinical and operational requirements, the organization needed a prototype solution that demonstrated how these advanced workflows could be achieved — and that the EMR could be successfully extended through integration.
The Solution
Our team adapted our electronic forms automation and e-signature platform to prototype an interactive forms environment fully integrated with the target EMR.
